Lima and Piura

So as previously mentioned, we were sick for most of our time in both Lima and Piura
But it didn't stop us from having a lot of fun
Billy looking rugged in the Plaza Mayor in Lima

Love Park in Miraflores
The statue was hilarious, and the park was pretty and on the coast
Our hotel in Piura was cute and small
I spent most of our time here, in our room, with the stupid fever
This was a house we helped at, just to give you an idea of what the place looked like. They were lucky to have a roof, most homes didn't

This is Piarina, I let her paint my nails and do my hair while everyone built a garden in the backyard

The wall behind her is made of mud and bamboo.
They were a really happy family and loved having us

School where we taught some English

At another family's kitchen, they have a hole dug in the floor that they cook in

My little fan club, the girls would not leave me alone but I had a lot of fun.

Rosa and Guervo, orphan brother and sister in the town we worked in
She loved to play, and he loved to sit in the way of whatever we were doing and laugh

Playing futbol with the local kids

Adriana loved to be picked up and tossed around

Ceviche is raw fish soaked in lemon and other things over night
Its traditional to drink the left over marinade before you eat it
Billy's is the empty glass, I could only manage a sip from mine
(it tasted like raw fish and was so spicy)

Looking nice and sweaty at the Cevicheria

One night we had a party with the ward where they taught us some traditional dances
Billy was the only one with moves

We were with a huge family, 26 people, and did everything with them. It was cool that they wanted to spend their vacation volunteering and helping out the people. They came back to Cusco with us and we did some really cool things with them, but that'll be in another post.

  1. Love it Annie!! It's so much fun to see the pictures and get an idea of where you are and what you are doing. You both look great! Can you bring Rosa and Guervo home with you?
